First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen is part of the larger denomination, The Presbyterian Church USA.  First Presbyterian has been worshipping in Aberdeen since 1888. Presbyterians trace their history back to Scotland and the leaders of the Reformation in the 1500’s, especially John Calvin. And so Presbyterians are known for having a Big View of God, the Bible, and the amazing good news of Grace that is found in Jesus. The word “Presbyterian” is simply the Greek word for “elder” in the New Testament. All Presbyterian churches are Elder led – meaning a team of elected elders from the congregation provide servant leadership for the life and ministry of the church family.
